How to install the field app on your phone

Topic
The WorkshopMax field app runs right in your phone's browser — there's nothing to download from an app store. You 'install' it by adding it to your home screen, which gives it its own icon, opens it full-screen (no browser bar), and lets it work offline out on site. The fastest way is to scan the QR code above, which opens a step-by-step installer that detects your phone. If you'd rather do it by hand, follow the steps below.
Instructions
- 1Open the install page on your phone.
Scan the QR code at the top of this article with your phone's camera, or go to your-site-address/install. On the dashboard there's also a 'Get the field app' card with the same code.
- 2iPhone / iPad — use Safari.
It must be Safari (Chrome on iPhone has no install option). Tap the Share button — the square with an up-arrow, in the bar at the bottom-centre of Safari (top-right on iPad). In the menu that slides up, swipe up past the share icons to find 'Add to Home Screen' — it's easy to miss because it's down the list — then tap it and tap 'Add'.
- 3Android — use Chrome.
Tap the ⋮ menu (top-right), then 'Add to Home screen' (sometimes shown as 'Install app'), and confirm.
- 4Open it from the new icon.
Find the WorkshopMax icon on your home screen and launch it from there — that's what makes it full-screen and offline-capable. Log in once and it stays signed in.
Additional Information
There's no App Store or Google Play download — it's a web app you add to your home screen, so it updates itself and never needs a store review.
If the page opens inside another app (e.g. from a message or Instagram), tap that app's menu and choose 'Open in Safari/Chrome' first — you can't install from an in-app browser.
You must open it over the internet the first time; after that it works with no signal, and any jobs, photos or clock-ons you record sync automatically when you're back online.
You can also just use it in the browser without installing — you'll only miss the home-screen icon, full-screen view and offline support.
